The Law Cost Reduction Project
| Managing outside legal expenses has two phases. During
the first phase (the "heavy lifting phase") the effort is
focused on lowering outside legal expenses. During the second phase
the effort is directed to maintaining the savings achieved and expanding
upon them.
The Law Cost Reduction Project places the burden on us to do the heavy lifting. While we believe that managing outside legal expenses is an in-house function, we recognize that some legal departments need and desire some support during this phase in order to lower outside legal expenses as much as possible as quickly as possible. And as we undertake this support, we will
also be preparing your department to assume the second phase of law cost
management: maintaining and building upon the savings we have achieved for
you.
